No death penalty in Ohio triple slaying case

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio grand jury has indicted the only suspect in a kidnapping and triple-slaying on charges of aggravated murder and rape that don't carry a death sentence.Matthew Hoffman was arrested in November following the disappearance of four people, three of whose dismembered bodies were found days later inside a tree using information provided by Hoffman.

The indictment issued in central Ohio's Knox County on Tuesday carries a possible penalty of life in prison without parole. Prosecutor John Thatcher says the death penalty was dropped at the wish of the victims' families.
